Ecopath with Ecosim Course Returns for 2025: A Joint Training Initiative

GES4SEAS is proud to support the next edition of the Ecopath with Ecosim (EwE) course, which will take place from 27–31 October 2025 at the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM-CSIC) in Barcelona, Spain. This course is free to members of GES4SEAS and the other four supporting projects, and offers a hands-on introduction to one of the most widely used modelling tools in ecosystem-based marine science.

Organised for the third consecutive year, the EwE course is a joint initiative between ActNow, GES4SEAS, MIORAI, Strategias Marinas, and SURIMI—showcasing the power of collaboration across Horizon Europe and national projects. It reflects our shared commitment to build capacity, strengthen marine science networks, and foster advanced tools for ecosystem-based management.

The course is designed for both beginners and experienced users who want to deepen their understanding of EwE’s core modelling principles, explore real-world applications, and get to grips with the latest features of the software. Sessions will include practical exercises and expert-led discussions tailored to the needs of each project community.

Because space is limited, early expression of interest is encouraged. This course offers a great opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field while connecting with peers from across Europe working on similar marine policy and conservation challenges.
