GES4SEAS co-organises ECSA 61 Conference in 2026
GES4SEAS is proud to announce its active participation as co-organiser of the Estuarine and Coastal Sciences Association (ECSA) Conference 61, to be held in Brussels in 24-27 August 2026. This commitment reflects the project’s mission to bridging the gap between marine science and policy, promoting the use of integrated tools to assess and manage cumulative pressures on marine and coastal ecosystems.
The conference will bring together experts from across Europe and beyond to discuss diverse topics, from physics to ecology and human dimension, including Ecosystem-Based Management (EBM) and Cumulative Effects Assessment (CEA) — core themes of the GES4SEAS project. It will highlight progress achieved through the project’s innovative toolbox, including tools such as Tikta, SEAS4GES, Pressure2Eco, and many others, which support the assessment and reporting needs under the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) and contribute to the goals of the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 and the Nature Restoration Law.
GES4SEAS is committed to ensuring international visibility of its outcomes. The collaboration with ECSA is part of a broader effort to co-organise special sessions in major international conferences to reach scientific and policy audiences worldwide and foster dialogue on sustainable ocean management. It is also important to highlight that ECSA61 is supported by 13 Horizon Europe projects, which strongly highlighted the commitment of GES4SEAS to explore synergies with other EU-funded projects.
