GES4SEAS Featured at NEOBIOTA 2024: Workshop on Innovative CIMPAL Index

GES4SEAS will be featured at the upcoming 13th International NEOBIOTA Conference on Biological Invasions, to be held in Lisbon from September 3rd to 6th, 2024. A pre-conference workshop titled “Mapping and Assessing the Cumulative Impact of Invasive Alien Species: The CIMPAL Index Online Workflow” will showcase GES4SEAS project’s latest advancements.

The workshop, a collaboration with LifeWatch-ERIC, will delve into the CIMPAL workflow—a state-of-the-art tool developed to map and assess the cumulative impacts of invasive species on ecosystems. Participants will gain firsthand experience in using the cloud-based service to analyse extensive datasets, which allows for high-resolution impact assessments at various scales including global and EU levels.

The session is designed to equip researchers and policymakers with the tools to identify habitats at risk, pinpoint impact hotspots, and effectively prioritize invasive species management strategies. The workshop will include a detailed presentation of the CIMPAL components, an introduction to the new algorithm enhancements, and a hands-on session where participants will learn to generate vulnerability maps and explore output data for strategic decision-making.

This engagement at NEOBIOTA 2024 not only underscores GES4SEAS’s commitment to innovative research and practical solutions in marine and terrestrial ecosystems but also strengthens its collaboration within the European research community focused on biodiversity conservation.

Join us in Lisbon to enhance your understanding of the latest tools and strategies in the fight against biological invasions, contributing to the sustainability of ecosystems worldwide.
